About your celebrant, Jo Dalton
I’m Jo and I’m here to help you kick off your married life with a ceremony that’s totally ‘you’ - whether that’s heartfelt, hilarious, or a perfect mix of both. Weddings don’t have to be stuffy or predictable, and my job is to make sure yours is whatever you want. I’ll bring the good vibes, the happy tears, and maybe even a few cheeky laughs to make your big day unforgettable for all the right reasons. Whether you want a ceremony that’s short and sweet or one that dives deep into your love story (with just the right amount of mushiness), I’m here to make it happen. You focus on saying “I do,” and I’ll handle the rest!
For the past 16 years, I’ve been working as both a Funeral Director and Celebrant, and honestly, I love what I do. Whether it’s a wedding or any other special celebration, my goal is always to create a ceremony that feels personal, meaningful, and just right for you.
I’m super organised (you could say I thrive on it!). My day usually starts with a checklist, and I get such a kick out of ticking things off and knowing everything is on track. If you’re looking for a celebrant who can guide you through the whole getting married process without any stress, that’s me!.
From sorting out the paperwork to making sure all the legals are handled, I’ll make it as smooth and easy as possible. That way, you can just focus on what’s really important: celebrating your love and having the best day ever.
With me as your celebrant, you won’t have to worry about a thing - I’ll make sure every detail is looked after. My goal is to help you enjoy the journey and make some amazing memories along the way.

My Story
I’ve always believed life is best when it’s filled with love, laughter, good champagne 🥂 and a few good stories.
Here’s mine…
I was born and raised in beautiful Adelaide, South Australia, where my own love story began at just 16 years of age. That’s when I met my husband, who wasted no time - he proposed when I was 17, and by 18, I was a farmer’s wife, moving interstate to New South Wales to start our life together on the land. Thirty-six years later, we’ve left the farm behind, but we’re still going strong (and I’m still reminding him it was the best decision he ever made!).
Life on the farm was pretty good - a whirlwind of hard work, laughter and unforgettable moments. We raised three amazing kids, giving them the carefree country childhood they still appreciate today. As they grew up, they each found their own path to Melbourne - our sons both in trades and our daughter at university.
In February 2026, life took us on another exciting adventure when we packed up and moved to the beautiful Victorian High Country. We now own and operate the Bright Colonial Motel in Bright, and we're loving this new chapter. It's a wonderful place to call home, and we feel incredibly lucky to live and work in such a beautiful part of Australia.
Speaking of love stories, our daughter's love story is one for the books... At just 16, she met her now-husband on a New Year's Eve party boat on Sydney Harbour while his family were holidaying from Los Angeles. A chance meeting turned into a long-distance romance, which eventually saw them both transfer their studies from Melbourne and California to Hawaii to be together. They married during Covid and were finally able to celebrate with family and friends two years later.
They now live in California, where she runs her own wedding planning business, www.wiereweddings.com. In December 2025 they welcomed our very first grandchild, making us grandparents for the first time. Becoming "Granny Jo" has been one of life's greatest joys, and I absolutely adore every minute of it. Watching our family grow while sharing a passion for weddings with my daughter has been pretty special.
As for our sons, our eldest is now happily married, and one of the greatest honours of my life was being asked to officiate his wedding. Standing beside him as both his mum and his celebrant, and officially declaring him and his beautiful bride married, is a memory I'll treasure forever. It was such a privilege to celebrate their marriage in two very special roles, and it's something I'll always hold close to my heart.
When I'm not busy officiating weddings, you'll usually find me at home with Chino, our Staffy, and Truffle, our Maine Coon cat, probably in the middle of a Netflix binge. I love catching up with family and friends over a drink, cheering on the Melbourne Mustangs at an Australian Ice Hockey League game, and making the most of everything our beautiful town of Bright has to offer.
Whether I'm celebrating love here in Bright or travelling to wherever your story takes me, I'd love to help make your wedding one of those unforgettable moments.
